What is Purdue e-Scholar?
Purdue e-Scholar is the name of Purdue University’s distributed institutional repository. It is a collection of repositories that contain digital documents (Purdue e-Pubs) such as doctoral dissertations and faculty-authored journal articles, conference proceedings, and technical reports, digitized archival collections (Purdue e-Archives), and research datasets (Purdue e-Data).

Who can contribute materials to Purdue e-Scholar?
For the time being, submissions and the creation of new collections will be considered on a case by case basis in consultation with a librarian. Eventually we hope to develop more encompassing policies and automated procedures to accept submissions from graduate or undergraduate students who meet guidelines.  Each submitter must accept an agreement when uploading a document or forwarding it to the community administrator. (Content created cooperatively with co-authors who are not affiliated with the University are also accepted as long as at least one of the authors is affiliated with Purdue.)

What materials can be contributed to Purdue e-Scholar?
For now, documents that meet contributor and copyright guidelines can be submitted to the Purdue e-Pubs repository. When submissions are made to an established community, that community’s guidelines may also apply. The emphasis of the repository is on submissions that represent the research and educational output of Purdue University affiliated personnel. While the Libraries may accept most file formats, support for preservation and migration of any given format is subject to Preservation guidelines.

Content in Purdue e-Archives is chosen by the Head of Archives and Special Collections based on needs and priorities within the Purdue University Libraries and the level of interest in collection materials shown by faculty, students, staff, and researchers.  Collections in Purdue e-Archives usually consists of digitized versions of rare or unique archival materials that are part of the holdings of Archives and Special Collections, such as manuscripts, photographs, artifacts, audio-visual materials, maps, and ephemera.
